Kèr Sjevíhodrin (Sjevíh /ˈodrin/ [pillow] [sand; shore]) is a subtropical Town located in Sjēsān County, Gèfy̼è Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Kèr Sjevíhodrin is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr Sjevíhodrin was founded by Glkdsëkdo Rees, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr Sjevíhodrin has a yearly average temperature of 24°C (75°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 22°C (71°F). Kèr Sjevíhodrin receives an average of 229 cm/y (90 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Kèr Sjevíhodrin covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3294 m (10807 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kèr Sjevíhodrin was founded durring the late 14th century in fall of the year 1354, by Glkdsëkdo Rees. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Glkdsëkdo Rees.

Kèr Sjevíhodrin was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr Sjevíhodrin is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Kèr Sjevíhodrin is buildings are arranged arround a network of spacious flagstone streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a humble stone fence which is tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. The town's peasent-grade are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Kèr Sjevíhodrin is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the town like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. There’s a patern to the panic. It’s not easy to see, and no one quite agrees on what it is, but the locals know and operate under this pattern. It shapes everything they do, and you feel as if you’ve almost worked it out only for some small detail to devastate your theory every time you try and comprehend it.

Civic Infrastructure

Kèr Sjevíhodrin has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Kèr Sjevíhodrin. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Kèr Sjevíhodrin's parks.

Kèr Sjevíhodrin has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Kèr Sjevíhodrin's natural decorations nor waterways.

Kèr Sjevíhodrin has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Kèr Sjevíhodrin has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Kèr Sjevíhodrin has a long tradition of martial expertise. This may be a crisply-organized history of skilled native levies, or it may be a natural belligerence in the people that leaves them familiar with bloodshed. While their neighbors and liege doubtless respect their talents, this very aptitude might make them more willing to turn to steel than prudence would advise.

Kèr Sjevíhodrin's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

The Digmaul near Kèr Sjevíhodrin are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Kèr Sjevíhodrin's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves consuming a local narcotic to channel Mysticism energies of tier 1 via throat singing.
